Images from Audubon’s Aviary an exhibition on view at the NY Historical Society. One of the most visually stunning and well-curated exhibitions I have seen in a very long time. The complete watercolors for Audubon’s The Birds of America, which are on display are coupled with an audio component for each bird from Cornell’s brilliant Lab of Ornithology. The pigments deployed in the watercolors, which are deeply vibrant when viewed in person, as well as the life-size scale of the birds sent me swooning.
